Handpicked from the Blewitt Springs portion of the Rayner vineyard, this wine nails the Bondar style; all fragrance, juicy fruit and lightness of touch. The sandy, ironstone-rich soils in this part of the vineyard helps in this respect, producing Shiraz with a more fragrant, spicy and lifted personality (when compared with the wines from Rayner’s Seaview subzone). A blend of both old and younger vines, the younger giving the wine brightness on the palate and pretty aromatics, while the older (some up to 65 years old, fermented as whole bunches) provide the savoury complexity, depth and structure.
